Gaga's Homemade Applesauce

Updated: Oct 6

My husband’s grandmother, our sweet Gaga, made the best applesauce ever! It was sweet, chunky, and bursting with cinnamon. This is a family favorite and I know it will be with yours as well!

You can enjoy this applesauce unsweetened or sweetened and it pairs perfectly with pork chops, sandwiches, on top of ice cream or all on it’s own.

Gaga's Homemade Applesauce

3 lbs Granny Smith apples

1/4 cup Fresh Lemon juice

1/2 cup Pure Maple syrup (opt)

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/4 tsp Sea Salt

3 Tbsp Ghee

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375

Peel, core, and quarter the apples. Place into a covered baking dish and add cinnamon, lemon juice, salt, and maple syrup (omit for unsweetened). Stir to evenly coat the apples. Top with the ghee, cover and place in oven.

Bake for 45-50 minutes stirring every 10-15 minutes to keep apples rotating. Remove from oven and mash with a potato masher. Cool completely and Enjoy!
